Team Development Methods - Pair, Mob and Swarm Programming

Agile development has come a long way and by now we understand pretty well how to plan for product increments or iterations. But after your daily stand-up is over, how does a team actually work during the day? How do you as a developer spend your day?

In this talk, we take a look at common obstacles for development teams - from alignment to onboarding - and how most agile frameworks are agnostic to them. In all too many teams, individual work items are assigned to individual developers and completed individually, maybe reviewed by an individual, until everything is done - at which point the whole process gets the "teamwork" stamp applied. In contrast to this, we will take a deep-dive into alternative development methods, in particular pair, mob and swarm programming, which aim for continuous teamwork in order to overcome these obstacles.
The talk outlines the advantages of these methods and also takes a look at their darker side in terms of disadvantages and organizational requirements.

We will finish with a short guideline on how to select the appropriate method for your case and what to expect in terms of successful outcomes. A quick spoiler: these methods can cause employee engagement and efficiency to skyrocket.
