Training Content at a Glance

The following modules are available to you and can be freely combined. Our staff are experienced in all facets of software testing. Please do not hesitate to contact us if the modules offered should not exactly meet your requirements, and we will find a solution together. If you are not sure about which modules fit best for your company or project, we are also able to support you to make the right decision in an individual workshop.

  • Overview: Software testing and standards
The range of subjects in the field of software testing has grown tremendously in the past few years. Participants in this module will learn about the various methods of software testing and how they are incorporated into development processes and standards.

    Duration: 1/2 day

    Content:
    • ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 "Software and systems engineering – software testing"
    • Fundamental test process
    • Test documentation
    • Requirements from safety-related rules and standards
    • ISO 26262 and ASPICE

  • Requirements engineering as a basis for functional testing
The most important thing about testing is to define which behavior is to be interpreted as correct or desirable. It is therefore indispensable to take the requirements into consideration for testing – they provide the basis against which the functional behavior of software can be evaluated.

    Duration: 1/2 day

    Content:
    • System and system context
    • Determining requirements
    • Documenting requirements
      • Requirements template
      • Models
    • Verifying, coordinating and managing requirements
    • Tools

  • Controlling the test process using key indicators
This module familiarizes the participants with the basics of test management. They learn the commonly used metrics and how to utilize these in the process.

    Duration: 1/2 day

    Content:
    • Test management (test organization, test planning, testing strategy, error management)
    • Test metrics: Selection and representation
    • Test coverage (requirements level, code level)
    • Product, process, and system metrics
    • Residual error forecast, residual error estimate
    • Mutation analysis and other methods
    • Tools

  • Test first
Write automated tests first and then the software? This may seem to be paradoxical, but more and more often turns out to be an excellent testing strategy in many areas. This module introduces the participants to the various Test First approaches, and they can experience these directly in hands-on exercises.

    Duration: 1 day

    Content:
    • Test First vs. Test Last
    • Test-driven development
      • Classic style
      • Mockist style
    • Executable specifications
      • Ubiquitous language
      • Acceptance test-driven development vs. behavior-driven development
      • Specification by example
      • Tools

  • Objectives of tests and methods
This module illustrates various objectives of testing and methods to achieve these. It covers, without limitation, the various test levels and test types as well as test analysis and evaluation.

    Duration: 1/2 day

    Content:
    • Test case identification, test procedure, test analysis and evaluation.
    • Test levels
      • Component test
      • Integration test
      • System test
      • FAT
      • SAT
    • Test types
      • Functional test
      • Non-functional test
      • Structure-based test
    • Black-box and white-box tests
    • Dynamic test
    • Coding rules (MISRA) and static test
