ASQF Promotion Prize awarded at the Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg

During the graduation ceremony of the Chair of Computer Science II at the Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg on June 30, 2018, the ASQF Sponsorship Prize of 500 Euros was awarded for the first time.

This was awarded to Simon Eismann for his above-average master's thesis on "Resolving explicit dependencies in architectural performance models", which was particularly convincing because of the combination of different existing approaches, their learning and application, and their extensibility and reusability aspects.

"Simon Eismann has developed a new approach to solving parametric dependencies, which allows to simulate performance models that were previously impossible to solve. He has done outstanding work in the design, implementation and evaluation. The scientific approach and the quality of the work are very good. All in all, the expectations that can be placed on a master's thesis have been exceeded by far", says reviewer Prof. Dr. Samuel Kounev.

Frank Häßler, Managing Director of Konzept Informationssysteme GmbH, ASQF member company and supporter of the award, ceremonially presented the ASQF certificate to the prize winner. In his laudatory speech, he also honored the fact that the master's thesis had been turned into a paper which, with an acceptance rate of only 25%, could be presented at this year's International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA) in Seattle at the beginning of May. "This circumstance alone shows the extremely high level of the work, which makes it all the more valuable because it deals with concrete, current problems and challenges," says Frank Häßler.

Konzept Informationssysteme GmbH has successfully established itself for over 20 years as a software and systems house for industrial companies with a focus on software development, systems engineering, quality assurance and training & coaching in Southern Germany and since 2010 also in Switzerland. The clients come from a wide range of industries such as avionics, automotive, aerospace, energy systems, production and logistics as well as defense, medical and railway technology. In cooperation with its customers, the company develops flexible and reliable solutions in accordance with international standards and norms - whether individual or standard solutions. For customers, Konzept Informationssysteme is a reliable technology partner in all phases of their development projects.

In this context of software and system quality, the ASQF, supported by committed member companies such as Konzept Informationssystem GmbH, relies on an intensive exchange between the Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg and the network of experts. The goals are clearly defined: to increase the awareness of the importance of software quality, to increase the knowledge transfer between actors in the field of software from industry, institutions and universities, and to give impulses for the improvement of processes in software development.

Since 2006, the ASQF Sponsorship Prize has been awarded to graduates of various universities in the state. It recognizes particularly good performance during the course of studies, a short duration of study and a final thesis that takes particular account of practical relevance and software quality aspects.

The ASQF and its subsidiary, the International Software Quality Institute, are committed to the further education of software professionals in practice as well as to the support of young professionals in the industry. iSQI cooperates with all universities, colleges and universities of applied sciences, giving students of these institutions the opportunity to take certified exams and acquire certificates during their studies

The ASQF and Konzept Informationssysteme GmbH congratulate the award winner Simon Eismann.
